ABOUT the California Scottish Rite Foundation
Since 1958, the California Scottish Rite Foundation, has provided vitally needed services to children, students, and veterans across the state through three fundamental programs.
The RiteCare Childhood Language Centers of California is comprised of 14 RiteCare Childhood Language Centers, and provides life-changing speech, language, and literacy treatment of childhood language disorders to children to improve their speaking, reading, writing and communication capabilities. Each year our certified speech-language pathologists provide over 24,000 hours of therapy free of charge.
Whether to say “I’m hungry” or to share hopes and dreams, communicating is among our most basic human need. When a child is unable to effectively communicate, it impacts every aspect of their cognitive and socio-emotional development. Language delays and disorders often interfere with a child’s ability to understand and follow rules or directions at home and at school; their ability to socialize, engage in group play activities, and form friendships; and often negatively impacts the acquisition of literacy skills limiting their academic progress. This, unfortunately, leads to frustration and isolation which quickly erode self-esteem and self-confidence. Left untreated, language disorders can result in long-term damage to a child’s overall development.
The Scholarship program funds in excess of $200,000 in scholarships annually to over 100 California students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees.
The Americanism Program provides support services for California veterans in need by partnering with trusted organizations to provide funding for job training, legal services and temporary housing.
The California Scottish Rite Foundation, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and is totally reliant on philanthropy from individuals, foundations, and corporations. We do not receive any state or federal funding. All programs and services are provided free of charge to the children, the students, and the veterans we serve.
